My Friday Bee makes a quilt each year for the church auction.   We all bought civil war fat quarters, which were cut into thirds (5.5" x 20").  We each kept one third of the fabric we had brought, traded one third and donated the final third to the project.  In this quilt the double four patch blocks are arranged in a crisscross pattern.  Double four patch is discussed on p. 56 of Simple Strategies for Scrap Quilts
